But where India is concerned, where India’s freedom is concerned . I am an Indian first, an Indian second, and an Indian last." (Mohammad Ali in the first round-table conference)
....And i believe this holds true for muslims world wide for their respective countries. Any concrete evidence in deviation to this is misssing.. and i hope it can be supplied by Mr Ajay Sharma.

I wonder if he is also familiar with the historical perspectives of how Israel came into being... and its actions since then.. especially towards "its enemies" who "say that their aim is to destroy Israel"..and are not backed by the USA. How much of their territories have been muscled over by Israel?
Human nature's most basic instinct is to hit back over injustice.. no matter from which side its first perpetuated.

And "frustrated youths who are suffering from an inferiority complex"??????????
Well that can only be said in the context of the immediate world scenario which demands nothing less from them. Try pushing any living creature into a corner continuosly..time and again.. retaliation will defenietly be the outcome.

and i completely agree with Mr Ajay Sharma's last point. I think that can easily be achieved if all humans start thinking without limiting themselves to set prejudices. It's high time now that people yearn for knowing both sides of the picture.. and not stay rooted in the rhetorics dished out by the power keepers.Nazia Erumhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02443415203989269309noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8323210.post-1156531109055244012006-08-26T00:08:00.000+05:302006-08-26T00:08:00.000+05:30Has M.J Akbar really been “brainwashed by the jeha...Has M.J Akbar really been “brainwashed by the jehadis?”

Whoever said, “ignorance is bliss”, I am his slave for life. Mr. Ajay Sharma needs to be reminded that before anybody behaves like a conclusive cat, it is primarily important to understand the concept of Jihad as laid down in the Holy Qur’an and the authentic Hadiths (sayings of the Prophet). If his understanding of Jihadis comes from “frustrated youths” blowing themselves up then he needs to be enlightened that nobody blew themselves up in the battle of Badr, the very first Jihad in the history of Islam. In fact, the Holy Qur’an openly condemns suicides: “make not your hands contribute to (your) destruction; but do good; for Allah loveth those who do good.” (Chapter 2, Verse No. 195, The Holy Qur’an translated by Abdullah Yusuf Ali)

Jihad is of two kinds:

Jihad al Akbar, the greater Jihad, is the war against the enemy within; against one’s own weakness and wandering and it is Jihad al Ashgar, the lesser Jihad, which is fought on the battlefield.

It was the same “brainwashed” M.J. Akbar who wrote in ‘The Shade of Swords’, arguably the best book on Jihad in English:

“‘To those against whom war is made,’ says the Quran (Surah 22, Al Hajj, Verse 39), ‘permission is given [to fight], because they are wronged — and verily, Allah is most powerful for their aid.’ The meaning is clear enough. Permission to fight is given to those who have been wronged, not to those who take up arms, and this is stressed in the next verse. Over and over again the analogy of David and Goliath is used; David’s war is jihad.” (See Page 32, The Shade of Swords)

It’s foolhardy to conclude M.J. Akbar just after reading his “various blogs.” Having read all his seven books let me remind you that M.J. Akbar is a journalistic Jihadi who employs his pen, rather than his sword, to eradicate the mass misconceptions of Non-Muslims about Islam and Muslims.

Mubasshir Ahmed
M.J.
